As a citizen of a nation that has been struggling for independence for centuries, I cannot help but reflect on the importance of nationhood and the nightmare that Vladimir Putin has subjected Russia to.

For centuries, my people have fought for the right to govern ourselves, to determine our own destiny, and to live in peace and freedom. We have been through wars, revolutions, and dictatorships, but we have never given up on our dream of independence.

Finally, in 1991, we achieved our independence. We were free to chart our own course, to build our own future. But our joy was short-lived.

In 2000, Vladimir Putin came to power. At first, he promised to be a different kind of leader. He promised to bring stability and prosperity to Russia. But it soon became clear that he was nothing more than a dictator.

Putin has systematically dismantled the democratic institutions of Russia. He has silenced the press, jailed his political opponents, and rigged elections.

He has also launched a series of wars of aggression against neighboring countries. He has annexed Crimea, invaded eastern Ukraine, and intervened in Syria.

Putin's actions have made Russia a pariah state. We are isolated from the international community, and our economy is in shambles.

But the worst part of Putin's nightmare is the way he has destroyed the spirit of the Russian people.

For centuries, we have been a proud and independent people. But Putin has made us ashamed of our country.

He has turned us into a nation of fear and silence. We are afraid to speak our minds, afraid to stand up for our rights, and afraid to dream of a better future.

The nightmare that Vladimir Putin has subjected Russia to must end. We must reclaim our independence, our dignity, and our spirit.

We must stand up to Putin and demand that he step down.

We must rebuild our democratic institutions and restore the rule of law.

And we must work together to create a better future for Russia, a future that is free, prosperous, and peaceful.

The world is watching. The world is waiting for us to reclaim our independence.

Let us not disappoint them.
